We decided early on that we were not doing electronics at the dinner table.

No judgment if you do. But Erin and I made that call and we held it. Our kids read books at the table while we wait for food. Lily does crochet. We talk. It is, apparently, a spectacle. Servers comment on it. Other parents stare. Like we brought exotic animals to Applebee's.

I say that not to be smug about it. I say it because every single time it happens, I think: this is what normal used to look like.

Every generation thinks it's the worst. We are, as a species, constitutionally Chicken Little. The sky is always falling.

The meme at the top of this post makes that point better than I can. We look at people glued to their phones and declare the death of real human connection. And then you see the photo below it: a train car full of people in their Sunday best, every single face buried in a newspaper. Not one of them talking to each other. Not one of them present.

Is it Really Necessary for Someone With ADD/ADHD to Avoid All Grains?

There are numerous studies linking ADD/ADHD and gluten. There's even one study linking celiac disease directly to ADHD. So it may be that avoiding all grains containing gluten is essential for the natural management of ADHD.
